The Managers thoughts

As the 2023/2024 season comes to an end, we caught up with Manager Stevie Wilson to discuss how it’s been since taking the reins at Saltcoats Victoria.

Reflecting on the Season

“We obviously took over in some difficult circumstances, but we have really enjoyed it. The thing I love is building teams, and I must praise the players because they stepped up in Saltcoats’ hour of need,” Stevie Wilson said. “We built a squad in a matter of months and provided the players with a lot of information and fitness training since coming in. We have played some really good football in patches and have been competitive in every game apart from a couple.”

Wilson highlighted that all efforts since his arrival have been focused on preparing for the next season. “Training facilities are all sorted, kits are all sorted, and match day tracksuits are all sorted. The committee has now doubled in number and is all pulling in the same direction. The work they have done in the background has been unbelievable in a short space of time: the new clubhouse is open, the management office is built, the park is on the verge of being painted, and more sponsors have come on board. Everything is moving in the right direction.”

Looking Ahead

Wilson is optimistic about the future. “We have kept a few of the players from last season and we have some really exciting talent at the club. I believe that once they have a really good pre-season, they will be a lot sharper going into next season. We have held a few meetings at the new clubhouse with new players, and hopefully, we can secure a couple of these signings, which will really strengthen the squad and add healthy competition.”

“We want to really push on next season. It will be a tough league, but we won’t be in the position we were this season,” he added.

Message to Fans

Wilson expressed his gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support. “We have great support, and our attendance has increased since we took over. We really do appreciate all the support we get. We had a good number of supporters on the bus to Campbeltown for our last fixture of the season, and we managed to have a really good chat with them all. The support has been fantastic and has been a great boost for Davie, Del, and myself. We are determined to make the supporters proud of Saltcoats Victoria again, and we will make sure that is exactly what we do.”

Stevie Wilson concluded by saying, “We are all looking forward to seeing our supporters again for the new season.”

Ayesha McGregor Returns to Saltcoats Victoria: A Social Media Maven’s Homecoming

A familiar face is back in the football club scene as Ayesha Tara McGregor makes a triumphant return to Saltcoats Victoria. McGregor brings her expertise and passion for social media management back to the club where her journey in sports organizations began.

McGregor’s journey into the world of social media was sparked during her tenure with the media and communications team at Young Lives Vs Cancer. Her experiences there ignited a fascination with how social media can elevate the profiles of charities and businesses alike.

I began my social media management career at Saltcoats Victoria and was there for the 2021/22 Season,” reminisced McGregor. “I then moved to Ardrossan Winton Rovers for the 2022/23 season and briefly at Bonnyton Thistle for a few months before taking some time off.

However, the allure of football and the desire to contribute to the community through her skills led McGregor back to Saltcoats Victoria. “After some time off, I realized I was missing being involved with a football club and heard that Saltcoats were looking for someone to come on board and help,” she explained. “So, I reached out and was lucky enough to be welcomed back to the club.”

In her role, McGregor will be an integral part of the social media team at Saltcoats Victoria, where she will play a key role in developing the club’s Instagram presence and supporting other social channels. “I’m excited to work alongside a talented team and contribute to the growth of our Instagram platform, as well as assisting in various other aspects of our social media strategy,” she affirmed.

Beyond her professional endeavors, McGregor offered some lighthearted insights into her personality. Her go-to karaoke song is “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele, and her favorite food is homemade macaroni cheese. When asked about her preferred superpower, McGregor expressed interest in either mind-reading or teleportation.

With McGregor’s return, Saltcoats Victoria is poised to continue the momentum of its rejuvenated online presence. McGregor’s dedication and expertise will further propel the club forward, ensuring continued growth and engagement within the online community.
