History

Saltcoats Victoria Football Club, a Scottish football institution from the town of Saltcoats in North Ayrshire, has been a fixture in the local football scene since its establishment in 1889. Known affectionately as the Seasiders, the club proudly calls Campbell Park its home ground and currently competes in the West of Scotland League Fourth Division.

Saltcoats has always enjoyed steadfast support from its loyal fanbase, with locals demonstrating a remarkable turnout, particularly for high-stakes encounters. Notably, during the 1970s, when Saltcoats twice advanced to the quarter-final stage of the Scottish Junior Cup, the home legs drew crowds exceeding 3000 supporters. Such fervent backing underscores the deep-rooted connection between the club and its community.

Like many junior clubs, Saltcoats relies on the dedication of its hard-working committee members and the support of sponsors to sustain its operations. Despite facing financial challenges, the club has persevered, remaining a resilient force in North Ayrshire football.

Campbell Park, the historic venue that has witnessed countless memorable moments in Saltcoats Victoria’s history, is now under the ownership of North Ayrshire Council. However, the park endured a setback in the early 1970s when a severe storm ravaged its grandstand. While the changing rooms were maintained for a time, the club eventually transitioned to prefabricated facilities. Subsequently, due to the inadequacy of these facilities, the club was compelled to ground share with local rivals Ardeer Thistle for three years. It wasn’t until 2011 that Saltcoats Victoria made a triumphant return to Campbell Park, equipped with new, vandal-proof facilities that heralded a new era for the club.

As Saltcoats Victoria FC continues to navigate the ever-changing landscape of Scottish football, it does so with a sense of resilience and community spirit that defines its identity. The club remains committed to its mission of providing quality football entertainment while fostering a strong bond with its supporters and the wider community.
